1)Swedish massage- It was developed by a Swedish physiologist, Henri Peter Ling at the University of Stockholm in 1812. Swedish massage employs five different movements;long, gliding strokes , kneading of individual muscles ,friction , hacking or tapping , vibration.

2)Sports massage- The sports therapist applies a range of techniques including therapeutic soft tissue massage, gentle mobilization, and stretching techniques to restore function to muscles and joints before, during and following sporting participation. Sports Therapy is founded upon an intimate understanding of the structure and biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system.

3)Stone massage- Massage in which smooth hot or cold stones, usually basalt or marble, are used to massage the body. When heated stones are used muscles relax allowing the massage therapist to work deeper into the muscle without the discomfort of regular deep tissue massage. Sufferers of sinus congestion usually find relief when cold stones are placed on the sinuses. Energy work is sometimes incorporated into Stone Massage. Stones may be placed on key energy points, such as Chakras or meridians, in order to improve energy flow and healing.

4)Thai massage- Earliest roots of thai massage lie not in thailand but in India.Thai massage is over 2500 years old.The founder of thai massage is Jivaka kumar bhaccha (shivagakomarpaj) was the physician to god Bhuddha and his monks and nuns in India.There is famous metaphore to emphasis the relationship of Thai massage to yoga"If the mother is yoga,the daughter is thai massage.".Theorotical foundation of thai masage is based on the concept of invisible energy lines running through body.Ten of these lines runing through the body. Thai Massage is an interactive manipulation of the body using passive stretching and gentle pressure along energy lines. These movements are really effective to adjust the skeletal structure, increase flexibility and relieve muscular and joint tension

5)Reflexology - It was originally known as Reflex zone theraphy,reflexology is a holistic healing method which involves pressure and massage of reflex points found on the feet and hands. The dictionary defines the word reflex as "an involuntary muscular contraction due to an external stimulus."However the word reflex is used in the sense of reflextion or mirror image of TRIGGER points on organism. It was known in India 5,000 years ago. Reflexology treatment centres on masage and pressure to the reflex areas in the feet and hands. To accomplish it, Reflexologist has to learn reflex areas on feet and hands.

6)Chair massage- Chair massage, also known as corporate massage, can be a convenient method of massage therapy. A chair massage session typically lasts 12-24 minutes, and is performed while fully clothed. Chair massage promotes better circulation, muscle stimulation and stress relief. This form of massage reduces tension in the back, neck, shoulders, head, arms, hands, legs or feet, providing a deep relaxation effect.

7)Deep tissue massage - Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots

Pregnant women may lie on their sides to be massaged, and they can actually lie on their bellies, since a specifically designed pillow has made it possible for expectant moms, no matter how far along they are, to lie flat on their stomachs. It accomplishes this with a deep center cutout in the pillow, so that bellies are accommodated and moms-to-be are relaxed and comfortable.
